Lessons I learned the Hard Way

Lessons I learned the Hard Way

You may have seen that Stripe cancelled my account. And what became clear to me was something others have tried to tell me but I didn’t grasp. We are playing in someone else’s sandbox. I’ve seen it about Facebook because Facebook makes the rules and could suddenly deny us access on a whim and I would have lost any work of assets that I have built up in the interim. But Facebook is only one of someone else’s sandbox. What we are facing is that we are  almost continuously planning in spaces owned by someone else. Examples of this are Kartra, Stripe, Twitter, Linkedin YouTube and even Rapid Crush. Anyone of these or even a myriad more could decide that they no longer want us around and it’s Sayonara.

They all have rules and policies to protect their own best interests and I do not disagree with them at all. For one thing, it’s very likely that they, too, are operating in a larger sandbox. We all must answer to Google, laws and regulations such as GDPR.

So Stripe decided that the product, Double Your Productivity put them at more risk than they wanted to face ( Specifically, we are unable to accept payments for investment opportunities or other services that promise high rewards…) and they closed my account. They never directly confirmed that that was the reason but they did not close my account at an unrelated site as long as I complied with their terms and conditions.

While researching my problem, I had received an email from Wilco de Kreig about Facebook ads. He said avoid ads with a time-frame. He referred to a formula:

[Achieve a specific result] in [time]

Or even more advanced:

[Achieve a specific result] in [time] without [obstacle]He added:

This proven formula is a clear “no-no” if you’re writing ad copy for Facebook.

Specifically Check out item 23, Misleading claims.

(claims of unrealistic results within specific timeframes)

Now, while viewing David Sprague’s video, How to use facebook Ads to Dominate your Market he covers the same information at about the 14 min mark labeled Compliant Landing Pages.

So, pay attention to your provider’s policies and terms of service.
